I’m With Her: Jo Watson

This is a performance of a really beautiful poem I’m With Her written and performed by Jo Watson, inspired by the TED talk by Eleanor Longden. What is incredible about this poem is that it addresses what usually gets erased in the mental health discourse which is systemic violence, gender, the pharma industry etc. She also speaks about public and medical narratives that frame ‘mental illness’ as ‘biological’ which is extremely problematic denying the space for survivors to speak, denying survivors the space to ask for accountability, denying survivors agency in how they tell their stories.

Jo Watson is a UK (South Birmingham) based psychotherapist and more information about her work can be found here: http://jowatsonpsychotherapy.co.uk/
